A quick mystery/romance read that’s especially fun for people familiar with Santa Barbara and environs. It’s mostly ‘G’ rated (it is about a nun, after all!) and I did learn a lot about the Catholic Church. A nice read for a plane flight.

Mayhem at the Mission hooks you with detail and keeps you reading with a great plot. It’s an art crime whodunnit simmering in the biological challenges of Hanna the wannabe nun.

I really enjoyed this book. An excellent combination of mystery, mayhem and romance all set in Santa Barbara. The author uses real places and settings with historical context in the plot. If you are a local, you’ll get a kick seeing some of your favorite restaurants, bars and places in the storyline and if ever visiting you could use it as your own personal travel guide. A great summer read.

In addition to the story, you get an intimate guide to Santa Barbara and its mission. Having lived in Santa Barbara for 11 years myself, I felt like I was brought home again and was back among my friends there.
